Titian at the Borghese Gallery in Rome: exhibition from 20 October 2026

Share

From 20 October to 8 December 2026, Rome’s Borghese Gallery presents Titian: Sacred and Profane Dialogues, centred on the arrival of the Annunciation from Treviso Cathedral. The loan places a major Renaissance altarpiece inside one of Rome’s richest museum settings.

Why make time for this exhibition

Painted in 1520 for the Malchiostro Chapel in Treviso Cathedral, the Annunciation overturns the usual composition: Mary occupies the foreground, while the angel approaches from the distance along a diagonal charged with light. In Rome, visitors can see the painting within the Borghese collection and continue through rooms containing works by Bernini, Caravaggio, Raphael and other major artists.

The exhibition is particularly convenient for short stays because it is included in the museum route rather than requiring a separate venue. Advance booking is essential: Borghese Gallery entry is organised in fixed time slots.
