OGR Turin presents The Quantum Effect and Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Mirrored Room – The Eternally Infinite Light of the Universe Illuminating the Quest for Truth from 31 October 2026 to 25 February 2027. Both are in Binario 1, with separate admission options and a combined ticket.
Kusama’s mirrored universe
Mirrors, coloured lights and repetition create the impression of an expanding, seemingly boundless space. The installation places the visitor inside the visual environment, making perception part of the encounter.
The Japanese artist, born in Matsumoto in 1929, began developing mirrored environments in the 1960s. This work dates from 2020. The press photograph accompanying this article shows its 2025 installation at the Sprengel Museum in Hannover, rather than the forthcoming Turin display.
The Quantum Effect
Curated by Daniel Birnbaum and Jacqui Davies and produced by OGR with SMAC Venice, the exhibition examines quantum theory’s influence on cinema, popular culture and contemporary art. Announced artists include Cerith Wyn Evans, Isa Genzken, Tomás Saraceno, Mark Leckey, Rirkrit Tiravanija, Sturtevant and Man Ray.
The project connects artworks and film with visual ideas about space and time. Talks and a film programme with the Museo Nazionale del Cinema will accompany the exhibition.
