Caravaggio documentary in Rome cinemas: dates and times in October 2026

Share

ROME – Travellers interested in Caravaggio can add an English-language cinema event to their itinerary this October. The documentary by David Bickerstaff and Phil Grabsky is listed at Rome’s Multisala Lux and Odeon Multiscreen in its original English version with Italian subtitles. Its 100-minute running time makes it manageable as an evening activity rather than a full-day commitment.

Why it is relevant during a stay in Rome

Caravaggio’s years in Rome transformed both his career and the history of painting. The film follows his story across Rome, Naples, Malta and Sicily, combining close views of the works with expert commentary and dramatised scenes featuring Jack Bannell as the artist.

For an international visitor, the screening can provide useful context before seeing Caravaggio paintings in Roman churches and museums. The focus on visual detail also reduces the language barrier, while the soundtrack remains in English.

Check the Rome schedule, not only the national release dates

The distributor’s national announcement gives Oct 4–6, 2026. The currently published Rome venue page instead lists screenings from Oct 5–7, 2026. Use the cinema booking page as the final reference before travelling.
